Blooma Tree Service is owned and operated by Martin Macauley, an ISA Certified Arborist (PN-5768A). (Why hire an arborist?) Martin comes from a long line of tree experts. With a grandfather who was an Oregon lumberman in the 1930s and 40s, and a father who founded a successful lumber company in the 1960s and 70s, Martin grew up with a love of trees and a keen knowledge of balancing customer needs with natural aesthetics.
After earning a mechanical engineering degree (UW '85) and an MBA (Seattle U '90), Martin found life as a Boeing engineer too stuffy (he calls it the "cubicle lifestyle"). He returned to the outdoors as a tree man, soon earning his arborist certificate from the International Society of Arboriculture and founding Blooma.

Blooma has always been a family business. Martin employed his two sons, Josiah and Michael, throughout their high school and college years when they were available. Josiah earned his bachelor's degree in business at UW Bothell, earned his ISA Arborist Certification, and now works full-time at Blooma. Michael just graduated with a B.S. in electrical engineering student from UW Seattle, and is working through the summer for Blooma as a pruner.
